Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature allowing the Windows operating system users to avoid the damage from the security issues and other viruses. Through it the user can monitor the programs for assuring the system memory is safe and restricts a program if it tries to execute a code from the system memory in not an appropriate way which may provide harm to the desktop. Data Execution Prevention automatically controls and examines the important Windows programs and services with the assured protection through the monitoring of the system programs.

It serves as a firewall for restricting the programs using the memory of the desktop incorrectly and closing the particular program notifying while doing so on the system. DEP is a security feature for the Windows operating system user for making the use their desktop/laptop without any sort of worry that it may put the safety of the system at risk. There are several programs which not be considered appropriate by DEP and are shut off for securing the system, but they are correct and essential to access for performing the working. Every time you try to use the program it gets closed by DEP seeing it as an error/harm for the system. For using the program you have to disable DEP on your Windows operating system.

Enable / Disable DEP in Windows with CMD:

However it is an not advisable to disable DEP on your Windows desktop/laptop as it may put your system at risk due to running several other programs in background which might influence the memory. Along with giving you a step by step process to disable DEP on system we have also provided a method to enable it for securing the system.

Disabling DEP in Windows through CMD:

Step 1:

Go to Start Menu and click on Run option, then type CMD and hit enter to open Command Prompt. When CMD opens right-click on it then select the option stating Run as Administrator.

Step 2:

After doing so you will be able to run exe files on it which is important for performing the process to disable DEP on the system. Now type bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff and then hit enter to execute the typed command. Through the command you will be able to disable DEP on your desktop/laptop.



Step 3:

Reboot the system to ensure the saving of the changes made and allowing them to run as changed.

Enabling DEP in Windows through CMD:

Step 1:

The same thing is to be as you done will for disabling it there will slight change in the command that is to be entered on the CMD.

Step 2:

Open CMD in administrator mode and type bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn and reboot the system to allow it to work on the changes made.
