Good news for all the Moto G 2nd generation users. If you are using the 2nd generation Moto G smartphone, you can now officially upgrade it with the latest Android OS, Android 5.0 Lollipop. The update brings you all the new features with incredibly amazing User Interface studded with material design. You can get the whole new user interface within your old Moto G smartphone after getting it upgraded with Android 5.0 Lollipop. A complete detailed report with proper Download links is given below. Manually Update Moto G to Android 5.0 Lollipop (Download & Install)

Note : Following report is only applicable on Moto G 2014 XT1063. If you are using a different Android device, kindly avoid this tutorial as it may get you some unwanted results. Be safe and not to try this report in order to not having the mentioned device.



Prerequisites 

  • Make sure your device is charged enough to run the whole installation process well
  • Take good backup of all the data of your smartphone
  • USB Debugging option should be enabled on your device
  • Download the OTA files of this update from the below given link and get it transferred to your Phone’s external memory first
  • Download OTA for Moto G

Manually Update Moto G to Android 5.0 Lollipop (Download & Install)

Step 1 :



Make sure to transfer the above downloaded files to your Phone’s external memory. Do not unzip the file, just transfer it as it is at the time of downloading.



Step 2 :

Now, turn off your Moto G device by holding the Power button.

Step 3 :

Press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power keys together until you see the bootloader menu on your phone’s display.



Step 4 :

Make use of Volume Down Key in order to get into the recovery mode of your device. You can select the option by pressing the Power button once.



Step 5 :



You would see a warning logo of Android while entering into the Recovery mode.

Step 6 :



Tap Volume Up and Volume Down buttons for a few seconds. Keep on holding these buttons and press and release the Power button for once.

Step 7 :

You would see Android System Recovery option there on your display.



Step 8 :



Select apply update from SdCard option.

Step 9 :

You would be allowed to browse the downloaded OTA file from the SDCard of your device.



Step 10 :

Installation process will take place after a while. The whole process will take several minutes to get done, wait until it gets done completely.

Soon, you will get the message of completing the installation process. Make sure to select Reboot now option after that. Your Moto G will reboot itself and will turn on with a whole new user interface of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. You are now allowed to use Android 5.0 Lollipop OS on your Moto G. In order to check this update, kindly tap the apps menu and select Settings option, scroll down the menu and select About Phone option from the list. You would see the current Firmware with Android 5.0 Lollipop which means your phone has been upgraded with a new Android OS.
